At the party congress in Hamburg , 1001 CDU delegates determine who will lead the conservatives in the future. It would go to the electorate in total, the favorite would still be clear: Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer . In the ARD „Germany Trend“, 45 percent speak in favor of the current Secretary General as the new CDU leader. This was announced by the WDR.

According to the survey, 30 percent of the respondents would vote for the former Union faction leader Friedrich Merz , only ten percent for Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn . As with the previous survey in November, Kramp-Karrenbauer remains clearly in the lead.

Even with CDU supporters Merkel’s confidant is 47 percent ahead. Merz was able to gain in the electorate favor of the Christian Democrats, but remains in the latest survey with 37 percent behind its rival. For Spahn spoke unchanged twelve percent of CDU supporters.

A clear majority of 57 percent of voters said in the survey by Infratest dimap that Angela Merkel should remain Chancellor despite her upcoming retirement from the CDU presidency until the end of the legislature in 2021. 39 percent expressed the view that Merkel should give up the chancellorship prematurely.

In the Sunday question, the CDU adds two points and now comes to 30 percent. The Greens are 20 percent, SPD and AfD 14 percent. FDP and Left land in the survey at 8 percent.

For the surveys, 1002 or 1502 voters were interviewed from Monday to Wednesday this week. The statistical error tolerance was 1.4 to 3.1 percentage points.
