Several Bangladeshi citizens who have arrived in Rome on flights from their home country in the past few days have tested positive for the corona virus. Many Bangladeshi migrants who work in Rome have returned to Italy with fake CoV tests and have since gone into hiding, the Roman daily Il Messaggero reported today.

600 possible infected people are currently being sought. Attempts are being made to locate them, Vice Minister of Health Pier Paolo Sileri said in an interview with radio station Radio 24. Italy suspended all flights from Bangladesh yesterday after several passengers on a flight from the capital Dhaka tested positive for the corona virus. The ban is initially valid for one week.

According to the Health Commissioner for Lazio, the region around Rome, 36 of the 225 passengers tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. All those arriving from Dhaka must be in quarantine for two weeks. In Italy, this rule applies to anyone entering from outside the Schengen area.
