After the fatal knife attack in Reading near London, the British police assume a terrorist background. After initial investigations, it was a „terrorist incident“, the police said today. Three people were stabbed to death in a park in Reading yesterday, and three others were seriously injured. A 25-year-old man was arrested.
Earlier, police chief Ian Hunter said that the crime was currently “not classified as a terrorist incident,” “but we remain open about the crime motive”.
Britain has been shaken several times by Islamist attacks in recent years. In early February, an Islamist released early from prison injured three passersby in London with a stabbing weapon before he was shot by the police.
At the end of November, an attacker stabbed two people on London Bridge and injured several others before he was shot by the police. The jihadist militia Islamic State (IS) claimed both attacks for themselves.
