According to a media report, the corona virus has spread widely in a number of old people’s homes in the Swedish capital Stockholm. A nursing service told SVT today that there are now 250 elderly people with an infection in the homes it looks after in the Stockholm region, including many with pre-existing conditions. So far, 50 of them have died, said the head of the Familjeläkarna service, Stefan Amer.
According to SVT, Familjeläkarna is responsible for medical care in a little less than half of the old people’s homes in the region. How many people in Stockholm’s old people’s homes suffer from Covid-19 is still unclear.
In total, 282 people with Covid-19 have died in Sweden, 178 of them in the Stockholm region. Nationwide, there were almost 5,500 confirmed cases of infection by Thursday afternoon.
