According to a Reuters survey, the number of coronavirus cases worldwide has exceeded the three million threshold. The United States accounts for almost one million. A total of 205,000 people have succumbed to the virus. As the number of infected people declines, several countries loosen the measures imposed. In Austria, too, the number of „active“ sufferers continued to fall.

The World Health Organization (WHO) expressed concern about rising infection rates in Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America and some Asian countries. One is far from having overcome the pandemic. In addition, the WHO said that around 20 countries would complain about shortages in vaccination against other diseases besides Covid-19.

Reasons include closed borders or other restrictions. „The world should have listened carefully to WHO because the global emergency was declared on January 30,“ said WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in Geneva yesterday.
