Only one day after the resignation of Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen, US President Donald Trump has dismissed Secret Service Director Randolph D. Alles. CNN had first reported it. Everything has been director of the authority since April 2017, which is also responsible for the personal protection of the president.

CNN quotes an unnamed secret service employee as saying, „There is an almost systematic clean-up in the country’s second largest security agency.“ The Secret Service is subordinate to the Department of Homeland Security.

At first, US media reported that everything had been fired. In an email to his coworker CNN, the director disagreed with this interpretation: „I assure you that this is not the case.“ In fact, he was told a few weeks ago that there will be changes in personnel at the head of the Homeland Security Department. „The President has ordered a scheduled change at the head of this agency, and I plan to comply with this order.“

On Sunday, Trump had already announced via Twitter that Minister Nielsen – the boss of Everything – will give their posts. Already months ago there had been rumors that Trump was dissatisfied with Nielsen’s work. Her responsibility as Minister was border policy. The President has made the fight against illegal immigration from Mexico one of his main concerns.

The Rauswürfe and resignations pile up. In Trump’s term, more than 30 ministers and high-ranking government officials have already abandoned their posts.

The successor to Everything is already certain. As the White House spokeswoman, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, confirmed, longtime Secret Service agent James M. Murray will take over the post in May.

The decision to dismiss everything should not be related to the security incident in Trump’s luxury resort Mar-a-Lago. At the beginning of April, a woman from China was arrested while attempting to gain unauthorized access to the President’s weekend home.

Trump had then emphasized that he „could not be happier with the Secret Service“. The agency has „done a fantastic job from day one,“ Trump said during a White House event when he was approached about the incident in Mar-a-Lago.
