The United Nations (UN) warns of a „catastrophe for an entire generation“ because of the school closings in the fight against the corona virus. The top priority must be the safe return of schoolchildren to school, said UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres today at the opening of the UN Save Our Future campaign.
„We are now facing a disaster for an entire generation that could waste immeasurable human potential, undermine decades of progress, and exacerbate deep-rooted inequalities,“ said Guterres.
As soon as the first transmission of the coronavirus is under control on the spot, it must be a top priority to get the students back to class as safely as possible, the UN Secretary General warned. The advice given to parents, carers, teachers and young people is of fundamental importance.
