The death toll from the volcanic eruption in December in New Zealand has risen to 20. As the New Zealand police announced today, another victim died from his injuries in an Australian hospital.
The forces recovered 16 bodies after the December 9 eruption on White Island. Two other people whose remains could not be found were declared dead. Before the current casualty, another person had already died from injuries sustained in the outbreak in the hospital.
At the time of the volcanic eruption, a total of 47 tourists and travel guides had been on the island.
